Having your Android phone lost somewhere or stolen, this will definitely put you in a state of fury.
One would sometimes worry about the amount of the sensitive data stored in more than the phone itself.
First of all, the primary thought that comes to mind is contacting the carrier and report the incident so that they switch the SIM card off and even lock the phone. They may also help you locate where your lost phone is. But before you proceed to those steps, here is a quick and easy thing to do.
First of all, the phone must be:
*Connected to the internet.
*Connected to your Google account.
*Allowed Android Device Manager, but this one is usually allowed by default.
1. Login to Android Device Manager
So, now you need to visit ADM from your PC (or another phone using the Android Device Manager app) Log in to your Google account which you use on your phone. As soon as the site loads, it will track down your device automatically.
If you have more than one device under that Google account, make sure you select the right one.
2. Search the Web
Simply type "Find My Phone" on Google to locate your phone instantly but make sure you are signed in to your Google account.
Once you get there, you can:
- Ring your phone even if it were in silent mode
- Wipe all the sensitive data
- Lock your phone
If you are not able to locate your phone yet, it is because your lost device is not connected to the internet or switched off. You might want to give another shot later on. Let's hope things won't go south; if so, you go ahead and ring your network operator to deactivate your SIM and lock your phone off.
Depending on your carrier and the guarantee you are provided with when purchasing your phone, you might be able to get a new phone.
