A couple of days ago, a killer Android-based OS was released. The operating system, developed by Jide, is going to be "for developers and early adopters who don't mind a bug or two". RemixOS is a great concept which you might want to try it out but I know that you don't like to replace it with your current system.
So let's find out how to get it to work on USB.
To use Remix OS on your notebook or PC, you need to have:
* USB stick 8GB+ with 20MB/s write speed and preferably 3.0
* Remix OS installer package for PC which you can get it from the official website.
*Boot-From-USB Enabled: most recent computers have these feature enabled by default but have a look at your Bios or model to confirm it. Google search results give you a better idea how to boot from USB.
Having Remix OS installed on your USB will be taken up more or less 15 minutes depending on your computer performance.
Let's get it started!
1. Insert a blank USB stick, if not just backup your data and format it.
2. Extract the files and launch the Remix OS USB Tool executable file
3. Click the "Browse" button and select the Remix OS .iso file. Choose drive letter linked to the USB on which you want to install the OS then hit OK.
The Remix OS USB Tool will start extracting and copying files into the USB. The process will be taken few minutes. Just sit back and relax.
5. When the installation is completed successfully, you will be prompted to reboot your PC and enable your USB (where RemixOS installed) boot option.
once it's done, you will have two options when you first boot into the new Operating System. You can either select:
Guest Mode where you can use Remix OS normally but as soon as you log off, all the apps installed and the activities performed will be deleted.
Or, you go ahead with the:
Resident Mode: this will consider the USB stick as a portable PC where which any changes and actions made in the operating system will be saved. This means you can use the USB on any other computer with all your stored data.
if you think you might need to install many apps, consider having a bigger USB size or an external hard drive.
Keep in mind that you will be experiencing some bugs in the system as long as this version is not final and it's for experimental purposes. Although the apps in Remix OS are designed to be mouse and keyboard compatible, some still designed for a touch interface.
Give this OS a try and don't forget to check the remix app for a broader experience.
