8 Tips To Accelerate Your Sluggish Smartphone

Have you noticed that you Android OS performance started to diminish lately? This issue is very frequent just like the desktop or other mobile operating system. Mobile phones have to be much lighter and speedier so as to keep up with the user's needs. If you want to boost your smartphone performance, then it's time to do some house making.

First of all, you have to have an idea about the capabilities and the downsides of your Android device; that's why you should be selective on what apps to install if your Android is not powerful enough. There are tons of Play Store apps that claim effectiveness in boosting performance but actually very few of them work. Thus, here's what you should do to get your phone back on track.

#1 Delete Junk And Cached Files

Apps installed on your phone take up more space as you use them often. Those applications create temporary system data which could greatly affect your phone's performance in time. This data covers browser history, cache, cookies and residual files of previously uninstalled apps. You can either manually wipe apps cache by going to Settings > Apps as shown in the screenshot below, or you can use Clean Master as an alternative to clean all the cache and junk files at once.

#2 Uninstall Unnecessary Apps

Every single application installed on our devices takes up some storage space and some keep even running in the background processes, which leads to slow down the phone and decrease its performance. Just make sure to only install the apps that you frequently use. Well, I know that you want to try out many apps but don't forget to uninstall them if you find them useless. Settings > Apps

#3 Terminate Background Running Apps

Many apps keep running in the background even after we close them. They take up your RAM and lower your phone. To kill the running apps, go to Settings > Applications > Running Services and force close any you think you do not use.
Facebook and Messenger, for example, are among the most resource hogging apps that dramatically lead to  slow down your phone's performance. I recommend using a lighter version of Facebook in case your phone often freezes while using the ordinary version.

#4 Disable Syncing

Although sync is a good feature that keeps your data synchronized with Google servers, but it kills your smartphone performance. Disable all account sync unless when you think you are going to use any Google services like Play Store.

#5 Keep Less Widgets On Homescreen

Widgets are not like apps but, similarly,  they do keep running on the background once activated. Whether you are using a weather, clock or Extended Controls (GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth...) widget, bear in mind that they are active all the time. The more widgets you have on your homescreen, the slower your Android phone is. Cut down your widgets and shortcuts number to the minimum and avoid live wallpapers as well because they will drain your battery quickly.

#6 Clean Up The Internal Storage

When your phone memory is filled up too much, there won't be no enough space to install anymore apps. You will start to see that prompt indicating low disk space with a noticeable decrease in speed and performance. The more free internal memory you have, the better your phone will run. Go to settings > Applications and send the downloaded apps to the SD card.

#7 Disable Animation

Animation makes your phone fades out and in according to the speed you want in each task. To turn off animation, go to Settings> Developer Options > Window Animation Scale and turn it off. Then go to Transition Animation Scale and turn it off as well.

Note: Developer Options is hidden on some Android devices, To unhide the Developer options menu, touch Menu > Settings > More > About device . Scroll down to Build number, and touch Build number five/seven times. The menu option will then appear under Settings > More > Developer options

#8 Hard Reset

Sometimes when your phone starts to act up and being sluggish, perform a reboot once in a while. If you still cannot see any difference, you should go for a factory reset. Make sure you backup your data before you totally format your device. Go to Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset.
Uncheck the SD card format and then hit reset phone.
