When we utter the word iPhone, we necessarily have to call to mind the great inventor Steve Jobs. It started out in 2005 when the latter developed an idea of a multi-touch touchscreen and requested Apple Inc.'s designers to look in depth into it. 

The idea was to interact with a computer without having a mouse or a keyboard but rather by directly typing into the display. The project was implemented under the name of Purple 2.

Thirty months later after the project was created in 2005, the first iPhone model was secretively created in collaboration with AT&T carrier (formerly known as Cingular Wireless) costing around $150 million. 

The first original iPhone 1 was first introduced by Steve Jobs at the Macworld Conference & Expo held at Moscone West in San Francisco, California on January 9th, 2007. Five months later, The first legendary iPhone was officially released on June 29th, 2007 in the United States. It was reported then that thousands of people have been passionately waiting outside Apple's and AT&T retail stores a couple of days before the iPhone 1 release date. The records showed that around 6.1 million units were sold. By November 2007, the iPhone 1 was made available outside of the United States to several countries such as Austria, France, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The first generation of iPhone made such a revolution in the mobile phone industry when it was invented at that time. Apple invented its first iPhone with such unbeatable new features and characteristics. 

The iPhone 1 was released with 115 mm (4.5 in) height, 61 mm (2.4 in) width and 11.6 mm (0.46 in) depth. The device weighed 135 grams, around 4.8 oz. The original iPhone 1 iOS was 1.0 with a CPU of Samsung 32-bit RISC ARM 1176JZ(F)-S v1.0, 620 MHz which was underclocked to 412 MHz and a memory of 128 MB eDRAM. 

iPhone 1 was released with 3 different internal storage 4, 8 and 16 GB. The GPU is branded PowerVR MBX Lite 3D along with a 3.7 V 1400 mAh Lithium-ion battery. As for the 3.5-inch screen, the display did support the multi-touch touchscreen. The quality of the first iPhone camera was as high as 2.0 MP with geotagging (Not GPS based). The device supported a single loudspeaker TRRS headphone jack, 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response (internal, headset) as well as connectivity of Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz), Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g) and Bluetooth 2.0.

Eventually, the iPhone 1 can be considered as a revolution in the history of smartphones not only in The United States but all around the world as well from poor to rich countries alike. And with the post-release of the first iPhone, the iPod touch invention made Apple's, even more, pioneer in its industry.
